Here We Go!
For the past 4 years, my students have contributed to a classroom blog. Each week, a different student will be invited to write their "Week in Review" post. The student will know that they will be writing about the week on Friday.
They can include photographs and links to work that was done...with permission of course.
Perhaps it could have categories. I will eventually discuss these with students, but these are a few that have worked well in the past.
There is a rubric that each student will have access to that outlines the success criteria for their blog post. This contributes to their literacy grade.
A Little About Me
The student provides a little information about themselves.
The Best Thing About This Week
The student shares their perspective on the best thing that happened during the week.
The Worst Thing About This Week
Was there something awful about the week? Here is where they can share it.
Mathematic Mentions
A quick update on the math we've done. What strand did we explore? Was there a quality problem that can be shared for others to solve?
Literacy Links
What are we reading? What were we writing about? What is the word of the week? Was there a highlight?
Science, History and Geography
What are we learning about? Are there any links that can be shared from these subjects?
Physical Education & Health
What's going on in gym? What other ways have we been active?
The Arts
Dance? Drama? Visual Art? Music? What's going on here? This would be a great place to showcase things created in class.
Anything goes really. I'll create them through September and then relinquish the responsibility to my creative class.
